“Below-ground interactions in a changing environment”, Dr. Shimon Rachmilevitch’s presented the critical role of below-ground processes in ecosystem functioning. Professor Rachmilevitch highlighted the complex network of communications between different organisms through the exchange of important molecules, including defense signals. He showed how the understanding of these interactions is particularly important in the context of climate change and desertification.
Meanwhile, Dr. Caroline Halde’s presentation, entitled “Organic agriculture as a climate change adaptation and mitigation strategy: challenges and opportunities”, centered around the potential of organic agriculture as a solution to climate change. Dr. Halde explained what organic agriculture is, and how it could assist in the adaptation to climate crisis, and how this strategy helps control greenhouse gas emissions.
